Industry’s First High LOI Non-Halogen Flame Retardant
Thermoplastic Polyurethane

CLEVELAND, Ohio – March 5, 2007 - Noveon, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ), introduces Estane® ZHF95AT3 thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The new Estane TPU was formulated to respond to an industry need for a high Limited Oxygen Index (LOI) Non-Halogen Flame Retardant (NHFR) TPU compound.

Flame retardant TPU compounds have been used for nearly 30 years as wire and cable jacketing because of their durability and flexibility. The new Estane ZHF95AT3 TPU, which is a zero-halogen flame retardant TPU, extends the range of flame retardant performance while maintaining mechanical properties, ease of processing and aesthetics expected of TPU products.

Wire and cable manufacturers that require TPU for cable jacketing will now be able to consider tray cable burn applications that demand a high flame performance as characterized by an LOI above 35.
