Lubrizol and Innovation Go Hand in Hand at Chinaplas 2008
 

CLEVELAND, OH & SHANGHAI, CHINA, April 15, 2008 – Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ), is promoting innovation as its theme at this year’s Chinaplas 2008 tradeshow in Pudong, Shanghai, China from April 17 – April 20. Lubrizol’s booth W2A01 will showcase three of its key businesses, Estane® Engineered Polymers, Conductive Polymers, and Performance Coatings.

“Innovation starts with close relationships with our trend-setting customers. By understanding their needs and strategic direction, we can align our development efforts to allow our products to be our customers’ innovations,” says Timothy Madden, business director, Estane TPU - Asia Pacific.

In 2003, Lubrizol established an Application Development Center (ADC) in Song Jiang, China before the Estane TPU production began. The ADC’s initial charter was to learn more about the needs of the Asian market and to provide processing advice to Estane TPU customers. In 2006, Lubrizol further invested in the ADC, which allowed smaller scale TPU production and development of new TPU material that can be tailored to meet the needs of Asian markets.
Some of the materials now being produced include Estane TPUs with anti-block characteristics, highly opaque TPUs, flame retardant TPUs that can include non-halogen flame retardants, as well as functional materials for breathable membranes. Lubrizol is undertaking a major expansion in the Asia Pacific region by building this state-of-the-art laboratory to further product development in China.
