New Softer Thermoplastic Polyurethane
for Demanding Hose and Tube Applications

CLEVELAND, Ohio – June 5, 2007 – Lubrizol Advanced Materials, a subsidiary of The Lubrizol
Corporation (NYSE: LZ), is introducing a new soft durometer grade of its Estane® Thermoplastic
Polyurethane (TPU). The new grade is ideal for demanding hose and tube applications with outstanding
resiliency and low temperature flexibility.

“The new soft durometer grade, Estane 58070, offers outstanding low temperature flexibility, snapback
resistance and durability in extreme conditions” says Ed Godlewsky, market manager, Estane Thermoplastic Polyurethanes. Estane 58070 is a plasticized polyester TPU with a 72A hardness used in the manufacture of hoses and tubes. Its robust properties make the material especially suited for hoses used to convey petroleum-based products. Godlewsky said, “It will maintain its properties even in the cold weather. Hoses and tubes can be rolled or unrolled without difficulty; this new grade also displays high tensile and tear strength, along with abrasion resistance for added durability.”

Estane 58070 is well suited for applications such as hoses and tubes, fabric coating, wire & cable,
gasoline drop hoses, mulch hosing, liquid waste transfer, and small fuel hose vapor recovery systems.
Proprietary technology also includes hydrolysis stabilizer formulated in the recipe.
