Estane® TPU Products Offering Masterbatches for Improved Performance
|
CLEVELAND, OH – August 27, 2008 – Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ), introduces masterbatches from its Estane® Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) line. The masterbatches improve performance and are compatible with both polyester- and polyether-based TPUs. Estane® MB A200T TPU is a TPU based masterbatch that provides both anti-block and gloss reduction of finished extruded TPU articles such as film, sheet, profile, cable jacket, hose, and tube. Typical addition levels of this masterbatch are between three and six percent. In a selected end application, using three percent of Estane MB A 200T TPU to modify a targeted TPU yielded up to a fifty percent reduction in both static and kinetic coefficients of friction (TPU on TPU). Estane® MB A400T TPU is a TPU-based masterbatch that provides UV protection to finished TPU articles. In their targeted TPU, the Estane MBA 400T TPU masterbatch protects the polymer by reducing color development (yellowing) and retaining physical properties over the exposure time. “These masterbatches have been created based on our many years of experience as a major global TPU manufacturer. They complement our wide product line of Estane TPUs and provide customers an economical, on-site customization for their individual requirements,” says Ralf Hüther, market manager for film, sheet, and fabric coating, Estane® Engineered Polymers. # # # With a wide hardness range from 65A to 95D, Estane TPU resins bridge the gap between flexible rubbers and rigid thermoplastics.
